The Department of Phthisiology and Pulmonology, Metabolic Diseases was established on September 2, 2025, at the Central Asian Medical University (International Medical University) and has been operating since that date. The department is headed by Farhodjon Tohirovich Musayev.
Currently, the department staff includes 1 Head of the Department, 1 Senior Lecturer, 16 Assistants.

The main mission
The main mission of the department is to contribute to the development of a strong and effective healthcare system—one of the primary goals of a people-oriented state—while also training competitive specialists with profound knowledge, high professional competence, and strong ethical values.
Through teaching core pre-clinical and clinical modules, the department aims to prepare highly qualified professionals who are devoted to serving the country and mastering their medical specialties.
An analysis of medical education systems in developed countries shows a close integration of education with healthcare systems, where education and practice function as a unified high-quality medical technology.
Based on this approach, Central Asian Medical University (CAMU) has signed cooperation agreements with partner institutions in Belarus, Russia, Germany, Turkey, and the Republic of Korea.
In accordance with the Road Map developed on the basis of concluded agreements, the department consistently carries out activities aimed at the systematic qualitative improvement of professional qualifications and pedagogical skills of academic staff, the organization of international internships for teaching and research personnel, the strengthening of the scientific potential of the department, and the further development of research activities with enhanced integration into academic science.
Special attention is also given to increasing the effectiveness of scientific activities of the faculty and engaging talented students in research work.

Research Activities and Main Scientific Directions of the Department
The department conducts scientific research in the medical specialties and fields of therapy, pulmonology, phthisiology, and metabolic diseases.
At present, laboratory classes have been established for all modules, and the educational process is equipped with modern instruments and facilities that fully meet contemporary standards.
Achievements of the Department in the Current Year
• According to international indicators, the total number of citations of publications by department faculty members has reached 50;
• Two scientific articles have been published in international scientific journals indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, and included in the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) list, while 25 abstracts were presented at international scientific conferences;
• Twenty-two articles were published in national scientific journals (HAC), and 10 publications were presented at national and international scientific forums and conferences;
• A joint research project with the Minsk State Medical University (Republic of Belarus) is being implemented on the topic: “Mechanisms of the Formation of Pharmacoresistance in Patients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis and Ways to Overcome It.” To date, this research has resulted in one Scopus-indexed article and two publications in international scientific journals and conference proceedings;
• A research project entitled “Effectiveness of Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome” is being conducted, with two publications in international scientific journals and conferences to date;
• A research study on “Specific Features of Thyroid Pathology and Reproductive System Disorders in Women of Reproductive Age under Iodine Deficiency Conditions” is currently underway, and two publications in international scientific journals and conferences have been published so far.
