Ophthalmology

The Residency Program in Ophthalmology is designed to train highly qualified specialists in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of eye diseases and visual disorders. This field plays a crucial role in preserving vision and preventing blindness in the population. During the program, residents study cataract, glaucoma, retinal diseases, optic nerve disorders, inflammatory eye conditions, refractive errors, and ocular trauma. Training includes mastering advanced diagnostic techniques such as slit-lamp biomicroscopy, ophthalmoscopy, perimetry, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and ocular ultrasound. Clinical practice is conducted in specialized ophthalmology clinics and centers, where residents gain experience in microsurgical procedures, laser technologies, and innovative treatment methods. The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge with hands-on clinical training. Graduates are prepared to work in ophthalmology centers, multidisciplinary hospitals, outpatient clinics, private practices, and research institutions as professional ophthalmologists.
