Simulation Center

To ensure students receive a high-quality education, acquire direct practical experience and skills, and enhance the practical activities of future specialists, the "Simulation Center" was established and became operational in 2023.

The Center for Simulation Training and Assessment of Students' Practical Skills is located on the 6th floor of the main building on the CAMU campus. It houses a 25-seat computer lab, briefing and debriefing rooms, independent study areas, an X-ray clinic, 3 lecture halls, and 42 specialized simulation training rooms: for neonatology and pediatrics; therapy and ECG; surgery and operating room; bandaging/dressing; endoscopy; anesthesiology and critical care; obstetrics and gynecology; nursing (procedures); clinical pathophysiology; otorhinolaryngology; ophthalmology; neurosurgery; ultrasound; anatomy (Anatomy Annotable Table); virtual surgical dentistry; orthopedic dentistry; pediatric dentistry; maxillofacial surgery and implantology. The Center serves to enhance the knowledge of bachelors, masters, clinical residents, physicians, mid-level medical personnel, and instructors from medical colleges.

Educational Simulations

The Educational Simulation Center is equipped with facilities for performing gastroenterological express surgical operations and virtual-realistic devices, where students can observe and interact with the surgical procedure through high-quality video and audio transmission.

XR-Clinic is an innovative product based on Extended Reality (XR) technologies for practicing professional skills of physicians in a realistic simulation environment. The simulators are designed for training students, residents, and doctors in the following specialties: Anesthesiology and Critical Care, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Cardiology, Surgery, Gastroenterology, Neurosurgery, Pediatrics and Neonatology, Pulmonology, Radiology, Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Pathophysiology.

The Simulation Center is equipped with over 500 units of modern and state-of-the-art medical equipment and instruments from China, Korea, Japan, Germany, France, and Russia; over 105 manikins, phantoms, simulators, and models; and over 50 units of computer equipment, monitors, and information kiosks. For testing patient screening algorithms, there are over 512 prepared clinical cases. The center also has an on-site veterinary laboratory where surgical classes are conducted by specialists from surgical departments, contributing to the development of students' practical skills.

The Bakulev CPBSS (Cardiopulmonary Bypass Surgery Simulator) is a specialized training simulator developed by the A.N. Bakulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery of the Russian Ministry of Health (in collaboration with engineers and specialists from the Methodological Accreditation and Simulation Center MASC of the Bakulev Center) for practicing basic technical skills in performing open-heart surgery under conditions of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). The simulator was created in 2019–2023 as an original Russian development (70% of components are proprietary designs using 3D printing, computer modeling, and electronics). It is actively used for training residents, surgeons, perfusionists, and anesthesiologists, as well as for accreditation and continuing education.
